Udo Walz: German celebrity scene mourns the loss of the "federal hairdresser"

Hairdresser Udo Walz is dead. The sympathy is huge. The German celebrity scene says goodbye to an "unbelievably great person".

The death of Udo Walz (1944-2020) causes great consternation in the German celebrity scene. In the social media, stars like Sylvie Meis, Oliver Kalkofe or Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Joko Winterscheidt say goodbye to the famous hairdresser from Berlin. According to the "Bild" newspaper, Walz died on November 20, 2020, citing his husband Carsten Thamm-Walz, after suffering from diabetes two weeks ago and having been in a coma since then. He was 76 years old.

Oliver Kalkofe: "Make the angels' hair beautiful!"

"Very sad news," writes Oliver Kalkofe (55). The satirist "played the hairdresser often" and was also able to welcome him as a guest in "25 Years of Kalkofes Mattscheibe". Walz was "wonderfully self-deprecating, charming and funny". "Thanks for all the wonderful templates, it was an honor for me. Have a good trip, Udo. Make the angels' hair beautiful!"

"Udo, I am sad. You will be missing," writes Jenny Elvers (48) and expresses her condolences to Thamm-Walz. The moderators Sylvie Meis (42) and Birgit Schrowange (62) agree. "You went way too early," the latter comments on a snapshot taken with the celebrity hairdresser. "I will always remember the nice encounters with you." And singer Ireen Sheer (71, "Fire") says goodbye to her "dear friend".

Joko and Klaas thank you for "good and even better moments"

Joko Winterscheidt (41) and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (37) have lost both a friend and a colleague with Walz. The Berlin hairdresser had often appeared in TV programs by the two entertainers and proved his sense of humor. In their joint farewell words on Instagram it is now: "We thank you with great dismay, dear Udo, for all the laughs, the good and even better moments that we were able to experience with you. You will be missing."

One by one, Heufer-Umlauf said goodbye: "I'll miss you, dear Udo". There is also a joint photo of TV colleague Winterscheidt showing him with Walz in his hairdressing salon. The entertainer explains: "In the photo here, I was near your shop on the Kurfürstendamm and thought to myself, 'Oh, check out if Udo is there'. Not that long ago. How happy you are did and what we laughed, oh man, i miss u! " For the 41-year-old Walz was an "incredibly great person". "Thank you for all the amazing moments."

The "federal hairdresser" is gone

Also "Celebrity Big Brother" participant Sascha Heyna (45), singer Kim Gloss (28) and TV actor Julian F.M. Stoeckel (33) mourn the loss of the "federal hairdresser", "an integral part of Berlin society" and the "Berlin veteran". "So many fun evenings, so many fun meetings, so much champagne and numerous days of shooting together in his shop", remembers Stoeckel. "I'm very sad. Udo, do it well."

TV presenter Katja Burkard (55) "can't believe" the sad news. "My dear friend, you will be missing," she writes in response to a joint black and white photo. "Your character, your gruffness, your honesty, your friendship, your talent, your hospitality and all the hundreds of other attributes that have made you this very special person!"

"There is no second time for someone like you"

Influencer Riccardo Simonetti (27) can hardly put his grief into words. "It hurts to find out that you've left us," he writes. "It's hard to believe that you shouldn't be there anymore. You were a real one-of-a-kind, always friendly, loving and funny. There is no second time like you and it won't be." Acting great Til Schweiger (56, "Keinohrhasen") also says goodbye: "Rest in peace, dear Udo! I'll miss you!"

Lilly Becker (44) also remembers the "always so graceful" Walz and says: God has brought another angel to him who "is now probably smiling at us from a very happy place".
