Udo Walz: More and more celebrities are commenting on the death of the star hairdresser

The day after Udo Walz's death became known, more and more celebrities expressed their condolences. Many of them mourn on Instagram.

After the surprising death of Udo Walz (1944-2020) on Friday (November 20), the stream of sympathy does not seem to dry up. After numerous celebrities spoke up shortly after the shocking news became known, among them actress Jenny Elvers (48, "men's pension") and the moderator duo Joko Winterscheidt (41) and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (37), trundled a day later further expressions of condolences and moving obituaries for the star hairdresser. The stars' preferred medium: the social media platform Instagram.

Barbara Becker posts a series of photos, Alessandra Meyer-Wölden's heart is "broken"

"We will miss you so much" can be read on the account of Barbara Becker (54) next to a series of photos in which the designer can be seen together with her good friend. Boris Becker's ex-wife (52) also added a broken heart emoji to her words.

The 54-year-old had a close friendship with Udo Walz and met the popular hairdresser in person just before his diabetic shock a good two weeks ago. Walz himself had shared a photo of the two with the words "Surprise successful" on his Instagram profile. A little later, the 76-year-old fell into a coma and never woke up.

Another Becker ex also spoke up on the social media platform. In addition to a slightly pixelated photo of herself and the deceased, Alessandra Meyer-Wölden (37) wrote: "My heart is broken and I miss you, Udo." On Friday, Lilly Becker (44) had reminded of the "always so graceful" Walz on her account.

Actress Simone Thomalla (55, "Frühling") and her daughter Sophia (31) had been friends with the Swabian native for many years. Correspondingly shocked and full of sadness, they also expressed themselves online. "Tatort" commissioner Simone posted a quote from the German poet Mascha Kaléko (1907-1975): "One only dies one's own death. The others have to live with it." In addition to a black and white photo of himself and Udo Walz, Thomalla also expressed her condolences to his husband Carsten Thamm-Walz – in the form of the hashtag "#ingedankenbeicarsten".

Udo Walz cut Sophia Thomalla's hair off during her first modeling job

Sophia Thomalla also shared a black and white photo with the hairdresser with her Instagram followers. In addition, she first explains her longer reaction time: "I need a few minutes to realize and then to be able to react." Then the 31-year-old, who was friends with Walz for 17 years, remembers the moment he gave her the very first modeling job of her career. "So! The hair has to be taken off now. Everyone has long and you are not everyone," he said and at the same time "cut her hair with scissors".

The friendship of the two survived the shock of that moment. "I will miss his loud manner, his laughter, his wise advice, his limitless love for animals and his warm-heartedness very much", Thomalla continues. With Walz's death, "another person went who was simply kind, generous and loyal from head to toe". "I learned so much from him and took away with me. With him, part of Berlin and part of me die."

The model also reminded of the "flippant way" of the hairdresser. He had "always sat in the restaurant and asked the waiter: 'Do you know me?'" If the answer was "no", Walz said: "This is bad!". "Rightly! I'll do it that way from today!", Judges Thomalla and promptly receives approval from her mother, presenter Marlene Lufen (49) and designer Claudia Effenberg (55) for her words in the comment line. The latter praised the 31-year-old for her "very kind words".

For Guido Maria Kretschmer, the hairdresser was a "wonderful person", Ralph Morgenstern associated "controversies" with him

The hair artist for designer Guido Maria Kretschmer (55, "The red dress"), born in Waiblingen near Stuttgart in 1944, was simply a "wonderful person". He also posted an older photo of himself and Walz on his profile. In the accompanying lines, the "Shopping Queen" jury emphasizes how difficult it is "to find the right words for this heavy loss". "Thank you for the long friendship, dear Udo."

Moderator Ralph Morgenstern (64) apparently connected "some controversy" with the hairdresser veteran, as he himself revealed on the social network. Nevertheless, "I've always loved you," he wrote next to a photo of the two of them, on which they can be seen laughing.

G.G. Anderson: Udo Walz was a "very valuable and lovable person"

At the hairdresser's, pop singer G.G. Anderson (70, "African Baby") got the shock news. He promptly recorded a short video message for his fans on Instagram, in which he expressed his grief. Walz was a "very valuable and lovable person" whom he knew personally, according to Anderson. The musician also expressed his condolences in writing.

The stars who had already commented on Udo Walz's death on Friday included Sylvie Meis (42), Birgit Schrowange (62), Oliver Kalkofe (55), Julian F.M. Stoeckel (33) and Katja Burkard (55). The latter had listed numerous attributes on Instagram that would have made the hairdresser a "very special person" – including Walz's character, gruffness, honesty and talent.
