Udo Walz: The star hairdresser died at the age of 76

The famous hairdresser Udo Walz is dead. The "Bild" newspaper reports, referring to a statement by Walz 'husband Carsten Thamm-Walz: "Udo fell asleep peacefully at 12 o'clock." Accordingly, the celebrity hairdresser, who suffered from diabetes, suffered a shock two weeks ago and then fell into a coma. He was 76 years old.

Walz's health had already worried his fans. It was said that he was dependent on a wheelchair. At that time, he reassured "Bild" and said: "Don't worry! Everything is fine. I only had a small operation on my foot."

His steep career

Walz was born in Waiblingen (Baden Württemberg) in 1944 and then moved to Stuttgart to do his hairdressing apprenticeship. At the age of 18, he matured to become a hairdresser, to whom the stars entrusted their head of hair – such as Romy Schneider or Marlene Dietrich. In the course of his career, he also did the hair of other international stars such as Julia Roberts, Naomi Campbell, the German models Claudia Schiffer and Heidi Klum, and Chancellor Angela Merkel.

On July 26th, 2008, he and friend Carsten Thamm-Walz tied the knot in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In addition to his job as a star hairdresser, Walz was also a frequent guest on TV programs, and he also wrote several books ("HairAffair: Tips & Tricks").
