KYIV (Reuters) – A Russian missile killed one person on Friday in the southern Ukrainian town of Kryvyi Rih, while another Russian air attack killed three people in a village in the Kherson region, Ukraine’s minister of defense said. Interior, Ihor Klymenko.
The Ukrainian Air Force also announced that it had shot down 16 of the 20 drones launched by Russia in the Odessa region.
In the Kherson region, located in southern Ukraine, the airstrike hit the village of Odradokamianka and injured four people, said Ihor Klymenko.
In Kryvyi Rih, a Russian missile hit a police building in the city center, killing a police officer and injuring 25 people.
The region’s governor, Serhiy Lysak, later cited the figure of around 40 injured, adding that the Russian strike had damaged three administrative buildings and seven other residential buildings.
Russia also attacked the Odessa region on Friday, for the fifth time this week, while Moscow intensified its air attacks on infrastructure intended for Ukrainian grain exports on the Danube and in the port of Odessa since mid -July and the Russian withdrawal from the grain agreement in the Black Sea.
The Southern Ukrainian Military Command reported that fourteen drones were shot down over the Odessa region and two more over the Mykolaiv region.
The Iranian-designed Shaded drones were launched from Russia and Crimea, a peninsula annexed in 2014 by Russia, according to the military command.
A non-residential building was damaged by broken glass following the crash of a drone but no injuries were reported, Oleh Kiper added.
Regional leaders said Russia also attacked the region of Zaporizhia (southeast) and Sumy (northeast) with missiles, injuring several people.
Ukraine’s emergency services said two people were injured in Sumy.
Russia has not commented on the latest attacks.
