KYIV (Reuters) – Ukraine renews its invitation to Pope Francis and urges the pontiff to continue to pray for the Ukrainian people, a spokesman for Ukraine’s foreign ministry said on Monday.
“It is time to strengthen ties with those who sincerely wish it. We renew our invitation to Pope Francis to visit our country and we urge him to continue to pray for the Ukrainian people,” the spokesperson said. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleg Nikolenko.
In an interview with Reuters, the pope said he hoped to be able to visit Moscow and Kyiv after a trip to Canada as part of efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
