Ukraine: Russian strikes on kyiv and Kharkiv, 9 injured in Kherson

“During the bombing of Kherson this evening by the Russian occupiers, nine people were injured, including four children” aged two to thirteen, the city’s mayor, Roman Mrochko, said on Telegram.

Among these injured, “a mother and her three children were hospitalized. Their condition is moderate. They have contusions and explosive injuries,” he added, specifying that the five other injured were treated on site.

Several drones targeted kyiv

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces launched 19 Iranian-made “Shahed” explosive drones from the occupied Crimean Peninsula, 18 of which were destroyed in flight in several regions of the country.

Several of these drones targeted kyiv, according to the head of the military administration of the capital, Serguiï Popko. “According to preliminary data, (…) there are no victims or damage,” he wrote on Telegram, specifying that this attack is the fifth on the capital in December.

Moscow increases nightly attacks

Two S-300 surface-to-air missiles launched from the Russian region of Belgorod also reached Kharkiv, according to the Air Force. These missiles hit “one of the transport depots which had already been completely destroyed by enemy shelling before,” the city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, wrote on Telegram, without reporting any casualties.

Since the fall, Moscow has increased nightly attacks against Ukrainian cities, at a time when the will of Westerners to support the country seems to be weakening. The leaders of the American Senate thus noted on Tuesday the fact that the United States would not adopt before the end of 2023 the envelope of 61 billion dollars in aid that kyiv is insistently demanding.
