British actress Una Stubbs is dead. She died with her family at the age of 84.

The British actress Una Stubbs (1937-2021) died on August 12th after an unspecified illness. Her agent has confirmed this to the industry portal “Deadline”, among other things. “Mom passed away peacefully with her family in Edinburgh today,” said a statement from her relatives. The actress was 84 years old.

Stubbs was best known to many as the landlady from the series “Sherlock”, in which she played alongside Benedict Cumberbatch (45) and Martin Freeman (49), among others. She has also appeared in series such as “Till Death Us Do Part”, “Fawlty Towers”, “The Scarecrow” and numerous other productions.

She was the “heart and soul” of the series “Sherlock”

“We are hopelessly sad not to have lost just one wonderful actress whose screen and stage career spanned over 50 years […], but also a mischievously funny, elegant, stylish, graceful, kind, amiable and constant friend, “said her agent in a statement. You will always remember her and miss her immensely.

“What a woman, what a talent, what a star – and pretty much the kindest, nicest and funniest person you could meet,” wrote screenwriter Steven Moffat (59), one of the heads behind “Sherlock”, on Instagram. As the “heart and soul” of “Sherlock” she was irreplaceable.
