Another gun family photo outraged on Twitter

Republican Massie sparked a scandal on Twitter with a picture of his armored family in front of the Christmas tree. Now his party colleague Boebert has met with severe criticism with a similar photo.

Shortly after a fatal attack on a school, US MPs caused outrage with family photos of a special kind. Republican member of the House of Representatives Lauren Boebert posted a photo on Twitter with her four sons in front of a Christmas tree – the children all have guns in their hands.

Boebert, who is known as a supporter of conspiracy theories, responded with her post to a photo of Republican MP Thomas Massie. A few days ago he too posed with his armed family in front of a Christmas tree.

Just about a week ago, a 15-year-old gunman opened fire at a Michigan high school. Four of his classmates, aged between 14 and 17, were killed. More people were injured. The prosecution has charged the alleged shooter’s parents with manslaughter.

The father had bought the murder weapon together with the son. According to the investigators, it should have been an early Christmas present. The act had caused horror in the United States and renewed debate about gun law.

Manuel Oliver told CNN about Massie’s Christmas photo that he did not know whether that was meant to be ironic or funny. Oliver’s son was shot dead in a school massacre in Parkland, Florida. Such a photo is “the worst taste ever”.

“Thomas Massie, you’ve just incited children across the country to do something bad this week,” said Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter in the Parkland massacre. The Democratic MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote to Boebert: “If you pose in front of a Christmas tree and can name all these weapons, but not the gifts of the Three Kings.”
