USA: the rise in house prices decelerates in October

(CercleFinance.com) – The rise in house prices in the United States decelerated in October, according to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller indices: expressed as an annual rate, the index at the national level increased by 19.1% , after an increase of 19.7% observed in September.

The index calculated on the top 20 American cities saw its annual growth increase from 19.1% in September to 18.4% in October, the highest rates having been recorded in Phoenix (+ 32.3%) , Tampa (+ 28.1%) and Miami (+ 25.7%).

‘We previously suggested that the strength of the US housing market could be driven in part by a shift in household location preferences in response to the Covid-19 pandemic,’ recalls Craig J Lazzara, managing director at S&P DJI.
