Vacation despite a pandemic: With kids and campers through Slovenia and Croatia

For a long time now, the travel bloggers Andreas Arnold and Jenny Krämer wanted to go on an extended Balkan road trip in a campervan with their two sons. It should go through Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro to Albania. Until Corona thwarted them, like so many travelers.

Fortunately, the family is flexible with their Hymer campervan and reschedules at short notice. The best of the situation should be made and a trip through Germany is being considered. However, when the travel warnings were changed to travel advice at the beginning of July at the beginning of their summer holidays, the desire to travel and the little wanderlust increased and so the family was drawn to the Balkans as originally planned.

More beautiful than ever – turquoise blue water and secluded bays in Croatia

What it's like to travel in Corona times, Andreas and Jenny report in the new episode of their podcast from the family travel blog Travelisto. They limit the route to Slovenia and Croatia, as travel outside the EU seems too critical to them and difficulties on return must be feared.

Everything seems quieter this summer and there is little going on. The news about corona outbreaks on the Adriatic and overcrowded beaches is surprising. Families don't get to see these beaches, on the contrary. The popular Croatian islands of Krk, Pag and Cres are much less visited than in other years, so you can enjoy the turquoise water while swimming and snorkeling in almost secluded bays. And the great highlights of Croatia such as the Plitvice Lakes National Park are almost empty.

However, what may seem pleasant to visitors is a disaster for the local tourism industry. Up to 80 percent of the guests are absent and some livelihoods are at stake.

Traveling around the world with family – stories on the go

For a good six years, Jenny and Andreas have been writing about travel on their travel blog Travelisto and have been inspiring families, but also those who like traveling without children, to explore the world. They now report regularly on their travel podcast about their many different types of travel and experiences. They tell stories from the road, share their thoughts and give practical tips.
