Government spokesman Gabriel Attal affirms that the executive is counting on the adoption in Parliament at the end of next January of the vaccination pass, which must replace the health pass in the fight against Covid-19. The measure was announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex on Friday evening.

The government hopes for the adoption of the vaccine pass, which should replace the health pass, by the end of January for entry into force “immediately,” its spokesperson Gabriel Attal said on Sunday. The executive wants the bill to transform the health pass into a vaccine pass, “a quasi-containment” for the unvaccinated, to be “definitively adopted and promulgated before the end of January so that it can enter in force in stride, “said Gabriel Attal on LCI.

“An increase in appointments made”

Faced with the fifth wave of Covid-19 and the arrival of the Omicron variant in France, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced several new measures on Friday, including the transformation of the health pass into a vaccine pass. Concretely, to enter places subject to this pass (restaurants, places of culture, recreation, etc.), a negative test will no longer suffice: it will necessarily be necessary to have been vaccinated (or cured of the Covid) and to have received a dose of reminder.

“This weekend”, or since this announcement, “we have seen an increase in appointments made for a first injection”, welcomed Gabriel Attal, citing the figure of 16,000 appointments for primary vaccination taken on Saturday . There are around five million unvaccinated French people, he said. “It is them that we must go and convince once again, by taking measures, as we do with the vaccination pass but also by using pedagogy,” he added.
