VAE: the German Lemmo arrives in France with the One


The offer in terms of urban VAE has never been so plethoric. This is of course good news, because it allows everyone to find the bike that suits them best. But it can be difficult for a newcomer to find a place in the sun and to differentiate itself from the competition in order to seduce the consumer. However, this is the challenge that Lemmo wishes to take up with a first model, the One, which has many particularities worth seeing.

The guiding idea of ​​the Lemmo One is to be able to switch from a pure muscle bike to an electrically assisted bike in just a few seconds. Everything happens in the hub of the rear wheel. Indeed, it has a large wheel that allows the user to alternate between the two modes in a jiffy. Unlike a classic VAE used with the engine off, there is really no friction in muscular mode, with a total and mechanical disengagement of the motorization. Perfect to adapt to your desires or your shape! Of course, the reverse operation activates the engine, and you have the pleasure of driving with the help of the electricity fairy. The motor displays the regulatory power of 250 W with a torque of 40 Nm.

A battery of mischief

But to enjoy it, of course, you need a battery. The Lemmo One can be purchased for €1090 on its own or €1990 with battery. Alternatively, rent this battery for €35 per month with a 12-month subscription or €45 + €20 debited once for a three-month subscription. The battery weighs 3 kg for a comfortable capacity of 540 Wh. With it, the weight of the bike goes from 15 to 18 kg therefore. Its price may seem high, but it also includes connected functions such as GPS geolocation. It charges in just 3.5 hours and offers 65 W USB-A and USB-C connectivity to charge a smartphone, for example. The battery is housed at the top of the front triangle. The brand indicates that the autonomy of the One can reach 100 km.

Three sizes and two colors

The bike can already be ordered with an announced delivery time of three weeks. It is offered in three sizes, a choice far from being so common among new brands: ST, L and XL, enough to satisfy cyclists measuring between 160 and 200 cm! For 200 € more, the One can swap its chain for a more robust and maintenance-free belt.

For the rest, we find an aluminum frame with invisible welds with a rigid carbon fork. The wheels are 27.5 inches and the braking is provided by hydraulic discs. The chain-driven version relies on a ten-speed Shimano drivetrain.
