Vahina Giocante: her story of the incest of which she was a victim from the age of 5: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Guest of Audrey Crespo-Mara, in the show Seven to Eight, Sunday March 24, 2024, Vahina Giocante spoke about the incest of which she was a victim as a child at the hands of her father. “What is this first memory of incest?“, the journalist asked him. “I’m very young, probably around the age of five, in a bath. […] There is this notion of curiosity, of discovery, of caresses.”, she describes. At the time, the actress’s parents were separated: “My parents separated when I was a year and a half. And so, I was on vacation with him. […] The space was very free, very conducive to these kinds of moments. There were also naps with touching. These are never moments of violence. These are hugs that rock. Besides, he says it: ‘it’s getting out of hand’. And which intensify over the years, thank goodness not to the point of penetration and I think that’s what saved me.

For years, Vahina Giocante did not know how serious what she had experienced was. “The click“will come when his father asks him never to tell anyone.”We have an exchange where he tells me that the consequences can be very serious. That we can go to prison. At that moment, he makes me an accessory to the crime.”, she remembers. Then, she realizes that the years of incest of which she was the victim between the ages of four or five and the age of eleven were not normal. She asks her mother to no longer go on vacation to his father. “awakens his suspicions“but again Vahina Giocante remains silent. “I was afraid of prison and lifelong separation. The silence increases, accentuates this feeling of shame. We have to hide, we must never let it be known… You grow up, and this shame grows with you.

Vahina Giocante: “I had to put an end to it”

It was not until her mother told her that her little sister no longer wanted to go to their father’s house on vacation that young Vahina Giocante decided to file a complaint: “‘Hey, it’s strange, your sister doesn’t want to see your father anymore. The ground is slipping away from under my feet. I never considered the possibility that it could happen again on her. On her, it’s intolerable. I knew at that moment that I had to put an end to it.” She calls her father, who denies having touched his little sister, but for his own case explains to him that he is in the grip of great guilt. He asks her for a meeting to talk about it. She then replies: “This is what I’m going to do. I’m not going to come and tomorrow I’m going to file a complaint to the Minors Brigade against you“. After two years of investigation, Vahina Giocante confronted her father in court. He was sentenced to three years in prison, one of which was suspended. He was stripped of his civil and family rights. “My reconstruction was possible thanks to that, because I was heard, recognized and listened to.”
