In Val-de-Marne, a police officer has just been convicted of violence against a father. The facts took place in August 2019 in a police station in Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne), in the suburbs of Paris.
Yann G., had come to the police station to pick up his son, aged 15 at the time, who was coming out of police custody. According to this father, with no criminal record, the police would have first addressed several contemptuous remarks to them.
He then recounts at the bar “a series of punches”, “kicks” to his son “sitting on the ground without protection” and immobilized by several officials. The policeman says he had to intervene in the face of a very agitated father, who refused to leave the police station.

In front of the criminal court, he described “an exchange of blows in the melee”. The blow given to Yann G.? Not voluntary: he was trying to protect himself from being spat in the face. During the proceedings, the prosecutor declared that she had “no element which (her) allows her to say that (the son) was the victim of violence by the police”.
During the trial, at the end of March, she castigated the “totally inappropriate attitude” and the “outrageous remarks” of the father of the family, at the police station and in court, noting that his statements and those of his son had changed several times. She had requested the release for this policeman and six months of suspended imprisonment against the father who appeared the same day for contempt and rebellion.
The father of the family and the police officer were finally sentenced to a fine of 1,500 euros each. The latter, however, was acquitted of the violence against the minor.
