Val Kilmer: That's how Cher helped him fight cancer

Val Kilmer (60, "Batman Forever") owes his victory over cancer to a very special ex-girlfriend: Cher (73, "Strong Enough"). As the actor says in his new biography "I'm Your Huckleberry" for the first time, he fought throat cancer in her guest house. The two have known each other since the early eighties when they had a quack with each other. When Kilmer fell ill in 2016, Cher offered her ex-boyfriend to stay with her.

In his book Kilmer now describes how the friendship between the two helped him even in the worst of times: "One night I woke up and vomited blood over my bed, it looked like a scene from 'The Godfather'. I prayed and called Then I informed my host that Cher took a step into the room and went out immediately, according to People, Kilmer describes an unusual scene that made him laugh even at that moment.

Cancer-free since 2017

The humor didn't leave either of them when the paramedics started the treatment. While they were looking after her patient, Kilmer noticed that Cher had an eye on a particularly good looking medic: "Our eyes met and although I was covered in blood from top to bottom, I raised my eyebrows like Groucho Marx . "

Cher was embarrassed for a moment, but then burst out laughing. "There we were, laughing at beauty and desire while I looked like a stuntman from Tarantinos 'Reservoir Dogs' and yes, while I was in mortal danger. We laughed until they were done with my vital signs and muted with an oxygen mask posed. " After a tracheotomy, chemotherapy and radiation, Kilmer has been cancer-free again since 2017.
