VALORANT: patch 5.03 nerfs Chamber and shakes up the meta

Riot Games’ FPS is redistributing the cards with this new patch nerfing one of the offensive agents in defense, Chamber.

VALORANT is coming shake up your meta with his new patch. In effect, Chamber suffered a drastic nerf. Introduced in November 2021, the agent is part top picks in defense especially for competitive players.

Players’ mastery of the character pushed Riot Games to review its strengths and weaknesses. Thereby, the Chamber’s overall kit power has been reduced while allowing it to maintain its competitive advantage. The patch obviously comes with other smaller changes which we let you discover below:

  • Base cool down increased from 20s >>> 30s
  • Boost cooldown increased from 20s >>> 30s
  • Cooldown is set to 45 seconds when a Rendezvous Anchor is destroyed.
  • Diameter of the “ring” on which Chamber can stand and which allows him to activate Rendezvous decreased from 21m >>> 15m


Trademark (C)


  • Slow duration decreased from 9.5 >>> 6s


Tower of Strength (X)


  • Required ultimate points increased from 7 >>> 8
  • Slow duration decreased from 9.5 >>> 6s


Headhunter (Q)


  • Bullet cost increased from 100 >>> 150

GAME SYSTEM UPDATES


  • Added the ability to change the “Ghost” keybind outside of custom games.

    • This option can be found in Settings >> Controls >> Actions.



BUGS


Officers


  • Fixed an issue with Jett’s Tailwind where switching weapons mid-dash could cause the weapon drawdown animation to last longer than intended.


Game systems


  • Fixed an issue where some Reyna/Killjoy HUD elements were still visible after enabling the Hide UI option.
  • Fixed a bug where the defuse animation would not consistently occur if the orb was tapped in quick succession.



KNOWN ISSUES


  • Changing the reticle opacity settings in-game causes the reticle preview to flicker.
  • Peak announcements UI is not displaying correctly.
