The Vatileaks scandal is to be the subject of a new series. UFA Fiction is planning a six-part series for this.

The scandal surrounding the publication of confidential Vatican documents in 2011 and 2012 is to be the subject of an international series. UFA Fiction is planning a six-part series on the Vatileaks scandal, in which the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. (93) should be discussed. The series is based on the reveal book "His Holiness: The Secret Letters from Pope Benedict XVI's Desk". by investigative and TV journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi (51), published in 2012.

"The resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. Is one of the most decisive events in the 2,000-year history of the Church and is unique in this form. That raises questions. We want to shed light on the circumstances that led to this extraordinary step," explains UFA Fiction – Managing Director Markus Brunnemann in a press release. Producer Peter A. Weckert adds: "The result is an elaborate series thriller about the secrets of the betrayal of Pope Benedict XVI." When and where the series will be broadcast is not yet known.
