Vertical over the abyss – the driver who had been involved in the accident had initially disappeared

Spectacular sight like from an action film on Monday evening in Klagenfurt-Viktring: A car hung vertically over the abyss, trees prevented it from sliding further. But the car had no driver and no driver. Then it turned out: The woman had got out after the accident – and according to the professional fire brigade, she slipped a good 30 meters.

It all started with a traffic accident in Viktring in which the vehicle involved in the second part could not be found. Witnesses said it was a white car. So the police went looking. In the light of a flashlight, the officers then discovered a white car between trees vertically above the slope – it is still unclear whether it has anything to do with the aforementioned sheet metal damage.

“The car slipped three or four meters. Then the driver got out and fell again a good 30 meters further, ”said Wolfgang Germ, the operations manager of the Klagenfurt professional fire brigade. The police alerted the mountain rescue, which with nine men hid the driver. The injured person – she had suffered head injuries but could be contacted – was taken to the hospital. The accident may have happened while reversing, but the investigation has not yet been concluded.

Eight men from the professional fire brigade took the car up using a crane.
