Ready to discover new emotions? Vice-Versa 2, the next film from the Pixar studio and an expected sequel to the first opus released in 2015, has just been revealed a little more in a trailer. New images that complete the group of known heroes with new emotions: Anxiety, Embarrassment, Boredom and Desire.
A dive into puberty
Joy, Anger, Disgust and Fear will therefore have to deal with this forced cohabitation in the head of young Riley, especially since she has just turned 13. An entry into adolescence which inevitably involves its share of upheavals: strange feelings, body changes, doubts, fears and discoveries.
Here is the official synopsis of the film: “Recently graduated, Riley is now a teenager, which is not without triggering a major upheaval within the headquarters which must face something unexpected: the arrival of new emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust – which have worked successfully for a long time – don’t really know how to react when Anxiety arrives. Especially since it seems that she is not alone…”

As this trailer shows, the film promises to evoke interesting ideas, such as the concepts of repressed emotions, sarcasm, or the feeling of love. What to expect from a quality adventure.
We also see an Anxiety that seems to take control of Riley’s mind, and other emotions. A realistic representation with its share of twists and turns of all kinds and profound ideas, as Pixar is accustomed to.
Voiced by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) in the original version, the character of Anxiety promises a small revolution, as the actress announces: “Anxiety may be new to the crew, but it’s not really one to take a back seat. This makes a lot of sense when you think about it, given what’s going on in our head at that age.”
In addition to Hawke in Anxiety, Envie is voiced (in original version) by Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Ennui takes the voice of Adèle Exarchopoulos (The Life of Adele) when Embarrass has the stamp of the actor Paul Walter Hauser (The Richard Jewell Case). Amy Poehler is also back to voice Joy.
Vice-Versa 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann (who worked on Arlo’s Journey and the series Monsters & Co: At Work), and written by Meg LeFauve (Vice versa, Arlo’s Journey, Captain Marvel).
Released in 2015, the first Vice versa had enjoyed critical and public acclaim, grossing more than $857 million worldwide and winning the Oscar for best animated film. The film has established itself over the years as one of the last great Pixar films.
The Luxo lamp studio has experienced a few complicated years, with the departures of historical figures, the forced releases of films Drunk, Lucas And Red alert on the Disney+ streaming platform and the failure in theaters Buzz Lightning (barely $226 million worldwide).
Elementary has certainly raised the bar a little, but there is no doubt that Pixar is hoping for global success with Vice-Versa 2expected in cinemas on June 19, 2024.
Pixar fan? Apart from the recent Elementaryall of the studio’s films, series and short films are available on the Disney+ streaming service.
