Singer Vicky Leandros takes in Ukrainian families who had to flee the war in their homeland.

World star Vicky Leandros (69) helps people fleeing the war in Ukraine. It says on the singer’s Facebook account: “Your daughter Milana, who runs Gut Basthorst, and Vicky, have decided to take in refugee families from the Ukraine at Gut Basthorst. This week, 2 mothers with 5 children are arriving in Basthorst!”

Leandros has been committed to social causes for years, including giving benefit concerts again and again. In 2015 she received the Federal Cross of Merit – for her social commitment “especially for children in need”. Her support for the families from Ukraine is also appreciated by her fans. Numerous comments collect under the Facebook post, in which the users celebrate “this great gesture”. “I always knew that she was a great woman. I bow to you and take my hat off, Ms. Leandros,” it says, among other things.

Property in Schleswig-Holstein

Leandros’ daughter Milana Freifrau von Ruffin took over the management of Gut Basthorst from her father, Enno Baron von Ruffin, in 2018. The 600-hectare estate on the outskirts of Hamburg includes around 40 buildings, including a restaurant and hotel. Events and concerts are also held on the property.
