Victim autopsied – dead identified after plane crash in Lungau

An autopsy has confirmed what the “Krone” already reported: The victims of the tragic crash of a small plane in St. Andrä im Lungau on November 2nd were four men. They came from Salzburg, Upper Austria and Bavaria.

A 48-year-old from Salzburg also died in the crash. A man came from the Schärding district in Upper Austria and was 50 years old. Another victim, a 39-year-old, came from Grieskirchen in Upper Austria. The two men from the Innviertel were experienced pilots. A man (52) from Traunstein in Bavaria also died in the crash. The sports plane had taken off from Zagreb and should have landed in Schärding. Eyewitnesses reported to the “Krone” that the crash happened very quickly: engine noises in the air, the bang and the machine was gone. It is still unclear why the plane crashed over the forest. Criminal investigators and experts are still clarifying whether the crash was caused by capricious weather or a technical malfunction. The report is still pending.
