Victoria Beckham is shedding her tattoos, including several that represent her love for husband David Beckham. What does this radical step mean?
Having love tattoos removed or covered after a breakup is considered good form, at least by celebrities. After all, you don’t want to continue to carry the memories of your ex, which often ended in disaster, on your skin. But does this explanation also apply to Victoria Beckham, 48? Over the years, the designer has had more and more tattoos removed that she once had for her husband David Beckham, 47.
Victoria Beckham gets rid of her tattoos
Just a few days ago, Victoria posted a video on Instagram of her showcasing her own makeup brand and applying lipstick to her right arm. Of course, fans will immediately notice that her right wrist tattoos feature the Roman numerals VIII-V-MMVI (May 8, 2006) – the day she and David renewed their wedding vows – and the Latin words “De Integro.” – which translated means “again from the beginning” – can only be seen very faintly. The tattoo symbolized the new beginning in the USA in 2007, when David Beckham joined the US football club LA Galaxy.
Not the first time Victoria has apparently had a significant tattoo removed. As early as 2017, the tattoo on her left wrist was no longer visible. This included her husband’s initials and the words “Together forever forever” in Hebrew. The Hebrew lettering “I belong to my beloved and my beloved belongs to me” on the neck and back has also been removed.
Marriage crisis with David Beckham?
It’s not entirely clear what happened with Victoria’s five stars tattooed on her back, representing herself, her husband and their three sons Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 20, and Cruz, 17. Another star may have been added for daughter Harper, 11, or this tattoo is now a thing of the past. The reasons for the change also remain a mystery for the time being. However, it is suspected that the reason is not a marital crisis with David, but because Victoria fears for her image as a serious businesswoman. David, on the other hand, continues to hold on to his many tattoos.
