VIDEO – Caroline Vigneaux: spankings, slaps… her very difficult memories with her father

As with every show, Frédéric Lopez manages to obtain touching confidences from his guests. This Sunday, December 31, 2023, for the last of the year, the host invited him to his side judoka and former minister David Douillet, actor Stéphane Freiss and Caroline Vigneaux. The 48-year-old comedian who, in the barn, spoke modestly about the painful memories of his childhood in front of the other guests stunned by his words.

Concerning the atmosphere at home, Caroline Vigneaux shared the “parental authority of the father“. An engineer father who used violence to make himself heard as she explains: “At first, they are spankings and, very quickly, they become slaps. and I will eat very hard and long until I am 18“before adding”when it starts to hit hard you submit. It’s a question of survival. After the eighth or ninth slap, you look down“. Then, one day, the mother of two decided to stand up to her father as she explains: “On my 18th birthday I confronted my father to tell him ‘It’s over nowyou hit me again, you’ll never hear from me again‘”.

Did she blame him? “I like him more than anything” she added. “He left not long ago (in 2910, Editor’s note) and since then I’ve been on one leg. I find it hard to live without him” she expressed, moved.

This missed meeting with his father

Faced with this violent father during her childhood, Caroline Vigneaux therefore has no resentment. Currently on stage for his show called In Vigneaux Veritas, the comedian speaks without filter of the death of his father. A father she would have liked to see sitting in the Olympia hall when she played there for the first time in 2016 but who could not free himself. “I told him: ‘But dad, it’s the Olympia! I need you to be there, you have to come!'” she confided to Frédéric Lopez. The man then made him a promise: to come to the next performance in this legendary hall but… “My father didn’t come… because he died before”, said Caroline Vigneaux. In order to pay tribute to him, the comedian then decided to “project his name on the walls of the Olympia, inside the room, so that he is there despite everything”.
