Covid-19: the challenge of vaccination
Met by TF1 in a vaccination center in Metz (Moselle), Jean-Marc, 71, postponed the bite until the last moment. He says he does not trust this vaccine. But tensions with his family and the upcoming establishment of a vaccination pass decided this former professor of biology. “I’m giving in to general pressure, that’s all. It’s forced and forced, that’s what I would call extortion. If I don’t do that, well there will be consequences.”, he testifies in the 20H report at the top of this article.
The refractories considering themselves constrained to vaccination, the doctors of this center meet more and more in recent days. Like Andie, 25, who works in Luxembourg. From January 15, the health pass will be compulsory in companies across the country. “If I don’t get the vaccine, I can’t go to work anymore. If I don’t work, I don’t pay my rent, I don’t pay my bills.”, she says.
“It’s like a burden that has fallen”
For others, it was the illness that ultimately made them change their minds. For fear of side effects, Thomas postponed his injection. But in the fall, her whole family fell ill. Fever, respiratory problems and especially loss of smell for long weeks become a handicap for this 35-year-old sommelier. “We all thought that the Covid was something that was a bit overrated, but when we have it, no, it’s not overrated”, he says.

In Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), Caroline, for her part, preferred the proximity of her neighborhood pharmacy to receive her first injection. Her elderly parents convinced her to face her fear of the vaccine. “Maybe I put my family at risk, my parents who are 70 years old. It’s like a burden that fell. When I took the first dose, I thought to myself ‘It’s good, now I’m in the nails’ “, she says with a smile. Nearly 5.5 million French people eligible for vaccination have still received no dose.
