VIDEO – The beautiful story of a homeless Lyonnais rewarded for his heroic gesture

Fabrice, a former homeless man, no longer lets go of the keys to his new apartment. Proud, he shows the photos of his home in the 13H TF1 report at the top of this article. “There, upstairs, it’s the mezzanine with the sleeping area”, he sports. Fabrice spent his very first night on Monday in this 30 square meter accommodation. “I slept like a baby in a real bed. I was able to take a hot shower, I have my home so now it’s a new life. I’m really happy”, he continues.

On November 29, this 36-year-old homeless rescued a second-hand dealer from the flames. Since then, the prefecture has undertaken to offer him accommodation. An online petition had also gathered 50,000 signatures. An inhabitant of Lyon had even launched a jackpot. “We are at 2470 euros. It almost brings tears to my eyes. It really touched me because I tell myself that it is a mobilization that has paid off”, testifies this inhabitant.

This Tuesday morning, the Lyonnais were numerous to congratulate him. “His gesture is absolutely heroic and then it is also the moment, I think, to focus on people like him and to ask questions about the homeless”, says a young woman. Another good news is that his dog Zahia can move in with Fabrice. For him, it was the condition for leaving the street. “She goes wherever I am. The apartment was with her or otherwise there was no apartment”, assures the former homeless.
