Vincent Niclo: “Otherwise I would never have done it…”, why Céline Dion was crucially important to him

Winner of the Mask Singer show in 2023, the singer returns with a double CD and a show dedicated to Céline Dion. But he talks about a difficult year, with the death of two loved ones.

You come back with your album Celtic Opera. Happy ?

VINCENT NICLO: Absolutely. It’s now a 2-CD box set, with two previously unreleased tracks and, as a bonus, an album of Christmas songs. He had made the French fans moan, because he had not been released here.

Is this record your homage to Celtic music?

It’s very cinematic, epic music, perfect for my voice. I play with the Bagad Kemper. And there are icons of Breton music with me, like Dan Ar Braz, Soldier Louis or Manau.

We will see you again on stage in Paris on February 29, 1er and March 2, in the show Celine symphonic…

It’s a Canadian show that covers all the great hits of Celine Dion with a symphony orchestra. Céline validated my presence and the show. Otherwise, I would never have done it…

Do you still present TV shows?

Recently, I presented Sidaction. But the 300 Choirs stopped…

Because of the death of its producer, Franck Saurat, victim of a heart attack at the age of 55?

(Silence.) Of course, it was Franck Saurat who embodied this program. The channel (France 3, editor’s note) preferred to move on, for fear of not having the same quality…

Last July, you published a message on Instagram where you spoke of him as a “mentor”, your “soul mate”…

Between us, it’s twenty years of collaboration, a very strong relationship. He was one of the first who believed in me and pushed me to achieve my dreams. You know, it’s been a very complicated year for me, my father died on November 4. I lost the two pillars of my life, on which I could really rely. Everything I do from today will be for them.
