Vinci Airports traffic more than doubled in the 4th quarter of 2021


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Construction and concessions group Vinci announced on Monday that traffic at its airport subsidiary Vinci Airports had more than doubled year on year in the fourth quarter of 2021, while still down sharply from to the corresponding period of 2019.

The airports of the Vinci Airports network welcomed nearly 32 million passengers in the fourth quarter of 2021, i.e. traffic multiplied by 2.3 compared to the same period of 2020, but down 46% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019.

Over the year as a whole, passenger traffic at Vinci Airports increased by 12% compared to that of 2020, with 86 million passengers welcomed, while it was down 66% compared to to its pre-pandemic level of 2019.

“After very encouraging results in October and November, the end of the year was marked by a context of resurgence of the epidemic in certain countries due to the emergence of the Omicron variant”, commented the group in a press release. .

“However, unlike at the end of 2020, governments have not resorted to excessive travel restriction measures. […]. At most network airports, the recovery in passenger traffic therefore continued in the fourth quarter of 2021,” he added.

In addition, “the average load factor of aircraft operating on the Vinci Airports network exceeded 70% in October and November, for the first time since the start of the crisis,” said Vinci.
