Volcano erupted near Reykjavik

Liquid rock is leaking from a chasm near the Icelandic capital Reykjavik. According to an expert, the volcanic eruption should not affect air traffic.

(Bloomberg/dpa) A volcano has erupted on a peninsula near the Icelandic capital Reykjavik. According to the Icelandic Meteorological Service, the eruption was spotted near Mount Fagradalsfjall on the Reykjanes Peninsula on Wednesday. Images from Icelandic Radio show smoke and lava emerging from the ground. Several earthquakes have already occurred in the region in recent days.
