Volkswagen ID.3: The most important things about range, battery and charging time

The VW ID.3 may have a smart design, but what about range, battery and charging time? We show you what the electric car can do.

A new era in the world of electric mobility has begun with the intelligent design of the VW ID.3. Its futuristic appearance is characterized not least by the front LED matrix headlights and the new Volkswagen logo. The ID.3 thus represents an innovative design. But can the e-car keep up in terms of range, battery and charging time? How long its range and charging time are and which battery it has, you can read here on GIGA. You can get a visual impression of the ID.3 in the video:

Which battery does the VW ID.3 have?

In Volkswagen electric cars, the motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries. Volkswagen relies on this type of drive because the batteries have a high energy density. There are three different battery packs to choose from for the ID.3: 45, 58 and 77 kWh. According to Volkswagen, research is also currently being carried out into new types of anodes that are intended to offer more storage space. This can increase the energy density and service life of rechargeable batteries. The aim is to store as much energy as possible in the smallest possible space. In terms of longevity, the battery of the VW ID.3 keeps the manufacturer’s promise according to the ADAC test.
