(Boursier.com) — Voltalia , an international player in renewable energies, is growing in Uzbekistan. In July 2022, Voltalia participated in a tender, sponsored by the World Bank through the IFC’s Scaling Solar program, for a new solar power plant in Uch-Uchak in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. Voltalia has been informed by the Uzbek government that it has won the bid for this new 123 megawatt (100 megawatt AC) plant.

The nominated site is located near the Turkmen border in the western Uzbek province of Khorezm, approximately 150 kilometers southeast of the provincial capital Urgench and approximately 900 kilometers west of the country’s capital, Tashkent.
The solar power plant will use the latest technologies available, with high performance bi-facial panels mounted on trackers. With commissioning scheduled for 2024, the contract will include the design, construction, financing, ownership, operation and maintenance of the plant as well as the design, financing and construction of the interconnection facilities of the ‘Buyer.

This investment will be financed by the project’s debt and will be supported by the main development finance institutions in the region. Uzbekistan’s renewable energy deployment plan aims to develop 12 gigawatts of solar and wind capacity by 2030 and this investment in Khorezm will help meet the ambitious targets set by the Uzbek government.

“After signing an innovative partnership agreement with the government of Uzbekistan in November, we are extremely pleased to have won this 123 megawatt solar tender today. Uzbekistan will be one of the Voltalia’s main markets in the future and we are proud to help the country achieve its ambitious objectives for 2030, by considerably increasing the country’s renewable electricity production, thus contributing to its energy independence”, declared Sébastien Clerc, Director General of Voltalia.

Next meeting: Revenues for the 4th quarter of 2022, January 25, 2023 (after market).
