Trade unions and catering employers have come to an agreement: wages in this entire sector should increase by the end of January. Today, a restaurant employee paid minimum wage earns 10.48 euros gross per hour. With this revaluation, he will earn 11.01 euros, a salary increase of around 4%. For Stéphanie Dayan, national secretary of the CFDT, “the crisis has highlighted a flight of employees to other sectors”. “Thus, the sector has lost about 237,000 employees so if we want to make the branch attractive, we have no other choice than to revalue salaries”, she explains.
A labor shortage that encourages higher wages … The same equation is found in many companies: transport, delivery and collection of waste. But also in the hairdressing sector, where we are looking for additional arms. In a Nantes salon, for example, just to retain his team, the manager decided on a general increase. “We have decided to pay 150 euros gross per month more for our employees compared to the Collective Agreement in order to give them a 13ᵉ month”he said
