Invited to the special program “Élysée 2022: Ask for the program”, the communist candidate for the presidential election Fabien Roussel returned to the current situation in Ukraine.
The communist candidate recalled that “the urgency was to obtain a ceasefire immediately” and asked for the fighting to stop, in order to “protect civilians”.
While the current head of state, Emmanuel Macron, maintains dialogue with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Fabien Roussel considered it essential to maintain this “sense of dialogue”.
A communication with President Putin “which must be pursued, with a firm hand, but with an open hand”, in order to “find the means to protect the populations”.
a “humanitarian but also food corridor”
While several humanitarian corridors have been organized, sometimes with difficulty, the PCF representative proposed the establishment of a “food corridor”.
A provision which, according to Fabien Roussel, would aim “to take out the stocks of wheat that there are in Ukraine and Russia”.
These currently abandoned stocks would make it possible to feed the population, but also to export to the countries of North Africa and the Middle East, which could be affected by major famines “if these stocks do not arrive”.
