Warframe: gameplay for the Whisper in the Walls extension, an iOS version in 2024

The Whispers in the Walls expansion and the mysteries of the universe

Main subject of the conference: the narrative arc Whispers in the Walls, planned for next winter, which will send us back to Deimos in the abandoned laboratories of the Necralisk. The story will focus on the machinations of Albrecht Entrati, a genius scientist who discovered how to manipulate the Void, a strange parallel dimension, and who notably gave our player avatars their powers. Creative director Rebecca Ford warns that Whispers in the Walls “will recontextualize“familiar elements of Warframe. Finally, we can note that the title of the extension necessarily refers to the Man in the Wall (The Man in the Wall), a major and mysterious antagonist of the franchise.

Beyond these screenplay considerations, Whispers in the Walls will therefore plunge us back into the bowels of the moon Deimos, divided into procedurally generated dungeons that will serve as a technical showcase for Digital Extremes’ new ambient illumination technologies. This luminous facelift will then be gradually applied to the rest of the game. The Necralisk will also introduce two major new enemy types: the Necramechs, automated protectors of the laboratories, as well as the Murmur, an intriguing faction described as “great Indifference”, whatever that is. can mean. The gameplay sequence ends with the sudden emergence of a terrestrial underground, as well as the use of obsolete computers to activate a “Vessel”, a sort of large inert colossus. We are far from understanding all the schmiblick – but this is what will motivate the community to play to seize everything, isn’t it?

That said, we can also observe the arrival of a brand new weapon, the Grimoire, allowing you to send spells in bursts.

Back in time with Warframe 1999

Continuing to confuse the issue, the gameplay of Whispers in the Walls immediately gave way to Warframe 1999, major extension of 2024. The trailer sends us back to the past, December 31, 1999 at exactly 11:55 p.m., and we follow the warrior Arthur (strongly resembling the Warframe Excalibur), who wakes up in the New York subway machine gun in hand. The guy is looking for Professor Albrecht Entrati – him again! – and finds himself confronted with strange monsters encrusted with cathode ray screens, all against the backdrop of Nine Inch Nails. Nothing that matches the Warframe that we know. We are still leaving with more questions than answers.

See you in 2024 to wind up the clock and find out what this famous Doctor Entrati is up to.

Warframe everywhere, all the time, wind or hail

The third major announcement from TennoCon 2023, the arrival in 2024 of Warframe on iOS systems (for Android, we will have to wait). This nomadic version will have full content parity with its big brothers. To tie it all together, Digital Extremes has also confirmed the upcoming implementation of the cross save, extremely requested, which will allow you to resume your PC part on mobile, then continue it on Xbox, PlayStation or Switch as the heart tells us. A bit of modernity, in 2023, never hurts. The first feedback on the mobile controls is rather positive, although there are obviously still some rough spots to iron out before the final release. Warframe mobile will also support gamepads.

You can already pre-register on the App Store to be kept informed of the exact release of Warframe on iOS. Any pre-registration will receive an exclusive login bonus on launch day.

A new Warframe: Dagath

Finally, Warframe will soon welcome its 54th armor in the person of Dagath, which will be accompanied by the seasonal event Abyss of Dagath towards Halloween. With his thick executioner’s apron, his massive cutlass and his hollow face, it’s hard not to think of a kind of headless horseman, or other horrifying figure of the season. While her skills are still unknown, Digital Extremes has revealed that she will wield a new melee weapon, the Blade and Whip.

Abyss of Dagath will bring some other updates quality of lifeas the rework of the Aquatic Hydroid Warframe and the Grendel Prime armor. Our companions will also change. They abandon the permadeath in favor of a system of respawn, and will generally be more resistant to combat. Big structural changes that Digital Extremes will discuss in more detail in their September devstream.
