Warzone’s AX-50 gets huge nerf through hotfix

Although the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update nerfed some of the most popular sniper rifles, it accidentally made the AX-50 completely hitscan. This caught the attention of the developers, who patched the issue on May 27.

Warzone’s IW8 engine uses projectile weapons, meaning a bullet is a physical object affected by travel time and gravity. Weapons with the highest firing speed are often referred to as hitscans because it feels like the bullet hits instantly.

However, there are no actual hitscan weapons in the game, at least they weren’t meant to be. As a result of all the major weapon buffs and nerfs in Warzone’s Season 3 Reloaded update, the AX-50 has become a real hitscan weapon, but the issue has now been resolved.

The AX-50 will no longer be a monster.

The term “Hitscan” means that a bullet is not a physical object and it hits as soon as the trigger is pulled, regardless of the distance or movement of the target. Modern Warfare’s SP-R was accidentally hit when it was released in September 2020, and the AX-50 experienced the same issue after Season 3 Reloaded.

The Sym.gg site, which studies weapon stats, found that the AX-50 went hitscan with the Season 3 Reloaded update. The AX-50 usually suffers from low fire speed and bullet drop, but we can see how its bullets hit immediately, when just clicking on the target makes the bullet hit.

YouTuber JGOD, known for his expertise in weapon stats and game mechanics, tested the AX-50 and confirmed it to be hitscan, and it quickly became one of the most popular weapons Game.

On May 26, the Warzone developers placed it under “investigation” on their Trello board. This card has now been moved to the list “resolved” and Raven Software has confirmed that the AX-50 hitscan problem has been fixed.
