The ethical smartphone brand Fairphone is preparing the launch of its fifth terminal.
The Fairphone 5 should still bet on eco-responsibility, fair trade and repairability, while offering a little freshness on the look side.
The new Fairphone 5 is unveiled
Fairphone is this Dutch company founded in 2013, which offers smartphones whose design and manufacture are designed to integrate environmental and fair trade constraints. Durability is also at the heart of the project, the Fairphone 2 having recently bowed out after 7 years of good and loyal service.
After the Fairphone 4 launched at the end of 2021, the firm is actively preparing the marketing of its future smartphone. Android Authority has just published the first images of this new terminal, which should bring some freshness to the range.
Color (finally!) at Fairphone
The images relayed by the magazine allow us to discover a Fairphone 5 with a relatively unchanged style, with at the back, a triangular photo module housing two sensors (wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle), not to mention a depth sensor and a flash. Slightly revised LED.
Of course, the smartphone will remain faithful to the principles of Fairphone, with the presence of a microSD slot, one of the highest repairability indexes on the market (the Fairphone 4 had a score of 9.3), allowing for example to replace very the battery easily, and an eco-responsible design.
The new Fairphone 5 should stand out in terms of look, since it would be offered in black, but we should also be able to discover a new light blue version as well as a fully transparent version. Remember that the Fairphone 4 is available in gray, green and speckled green.
It remains to be seen what the technical characteristics of this new Fairphone 5 will be. The current model is powered by a Snapdragon 750G processor, coupled with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, not to mention a (removable) 3,905 mAh battery.
