A dystopian Europe, the drug scene in Berlin or Kevin James' sitcom comeback: these are the series highlights in February.

While the worldwide cinemas have to remain closed due to the corona pandemic, there will be plenty of food again in the coming weeks, at least for series fans. Whether as a free TV or pay TV premiere, on Netflix, Disney + or Amazon Prime: These are the series highlights in February that are worth more than just a look.

Free TV

With his role in "Bodyguard", "Game of Thrones" star Richard Madden (34) was so convincing that after the UK premiere in 2018 he was promptly traded as the "Bond" successor to Daniel Craig (52). The miniseries will be shown as a free TV premiere on ZDF (Mondays at 10:15 p.m.) from February 1st. The plot: War veteran David Budd (Madden) is assigned to Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes, 44) by the Metropolitan Police as a bodyguard. The fact that he does not share her political views at all is not only making his job increasingly difficult. Will he be a danger to the ambitious politician?

They are the yellow long-running hits on German television: "The Simpsons". From February 8th, the iconic residents of Springfield will be appearing on German free TV in their 32nd season. From 9:15 p.m., Homer and Co. can be seen on ProSieben every Monday.

Netflix

Fans of the critically acclaimed "Dark" series should mark February 19th in their calendars. Then there is the six-part "Tribes of Europa" on the streaming service Netflix, which also comes from the producer duo Quirin Berg (42) and Max Wiedemann (43). The story takes place in 2074 in a post-apocalyptic Europe that has disintegrated into micro-states after a mysterious, global catastrophe. The focus is on the three siblings Kiano, Liv and Elja, played by Emilio Sakraya (24, "4 Blocks"), Henriette Confurius (29, "The Beloved Sisters") and David Ali Rashed (18, "The Perfect Secret"), who get into an argument and fight for a better future. "Dark" actor Oliver Masucci (52) will also be seen in the dystopia.

"King of Queens" size Kevin James (55) celebrates his comeback in a sitcom on Netflix on February 15th. Then there is the first season of "The Crew" to be seen. In it, he plays the team boss of a NASCAR racing team, who messes with the "tech-savvy millennials who have been hired to modernize the team."

Amazon Prime Video

The series adaptation of the novel "Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo" produced by the Amazon Studios will be available on Amazon Prime Video from February 19. Series fans from Germany, Austria and Switzerland can look forward to eight episodes of the modern interpretation of the international bestseller, which tells the fate of Christiane F. The Prime Original was shot in Prague and Berlin, among others. A newcomer cast embodies the clique around which the plot revolves: Jana McKinnon (22, Christiane), Michelangelo Fortuzzi (20, Benno), Lena Urzendowsky (21, Stella), Bruno Alexander (22, Michi), Jeremias Meyer (21, Axel) and Lea Drinda (Babsi).

The anthology series "Soulmates" offers an interesting sci-fi story set in the near future from February 8th. Also there are Malin Åkerman (42), Bill Skarsgård (30) and "Stranger Things" actor Charlie Heaton (26). The story: Around 15 years in the future, a company is said to be offering 100 percent certainty that it can tell its customers who their soulmate is. If you take the test, you can either meet the specified person or get the answer: "Your soul mate has not yet been tested." "Soulmate" pursues the philosophical question: Is love a free decision or fate?

Disney +

Disney + subscribers will get news from the "Avengers" universe in February. Then the sixth season of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Unlike the previous season, it does not include 22, but only 13 episodes. With the seventh season, which premiered in the US last year, the series came to an end. It is not yet known when the final 13 episodes of Disney + will make it.

Interesting for crime fans: the thriller series "Big Sky" by "Big Little Lies" creator David E. Kelley (64). It is about the kidnapping of two sisters and private detectives Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) who try to solve the case with the help of Cody's ex-wife Jenny (Katheryn Winnick).
