The panda twins born on August 2, 2021 are doing well and received very poetic names when translated into French.
They are a little more hairy and less pink than at birth but still just as tiny. The pandas twins born at the Beauval zoo (Loire-et-Cher) at the beginning of August 2021 have just passed the crucial stage of the first ten days. Something to reassure the whole team of caregivers and also their mother, Huan Huan.
At birth, they were only 149 and 128 grams each, which is quite normal for baby pandas. Two weeks later, they doubled their weight. 310 grams for the small “Cotton flower” and 296 grams for “Small snow.”
Names just as cute as their owner when translated into French. Like their mother, the babies have been given a Chinese name and are expected to leave France for China within a few years. Maman Huan Huan, Papa Yuan Zi and their big brother Yuan Meng (first panda to be born in France in 2017) are the result of a ten-year rental between France and China since 2012.

AFP cameras were able to observe the two twins during their contacts with the team of veterinarians. The little ones alternate between incubating and suckling with their mother, which guarantees them a bright future. In the wild, the female panda who gives birth to twins usually abandons the weaker baby to devote herself to the one with the best chance of survival.
