Weather – Icy cold sweeps through Switzerland – minus 30 degrees on the Glattalp

Due to the weather conditions, the city of Geneva will be expanding its emergency shelters for the homeless from this weekend. At the moment, all of the emergency accommodations managed by the city and those of the partner organizations such as the Salvation Army, the CausE Hotels or the Caravane Sans Frontières are fully occupied.

Therefore, from Saturday evening to Tuesday morning, 50 additional places are to be offered in the Richemont accommodation, according to the city’s department for social cohesion and solidarity. A bed, a warm meal, breakfast and the option of showering are offered.

From Tuesday, two more club-operated sleep-ins will open, increasing the total number of places from 528 to 597. The recordings are made centrally via the “Solidarité Hébergement d’urgence” hotline, which can be reached 7 days a week, 24 hours a day on 0800 22 22 10.
