Wednesday on Netflix: his hypnotic dance goes viral, Internet users resume the choreography

Wednesday is still talking about her! Inspired by its hypnotic dance scene, Internet users recreate it on social networks: the challenge is on!

Tim Burton’s Wednesday recently landed on Netflix. Focusing on the adventures of the morbid teenage girl of the legendary Addams clan, the series quickly became a real phenomenon.

From the original comics, to 60s series, to 90s movies, there have been many iterations of Wednesday over the years. Each generation thus has “its Wednesday”.

Although she is still just as goofy and frightening in her latest reimagining, Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday is the heroine of her own series here: thanks to a plot devoted to her and which (finally) dwells in depth on her character, here she is more fascinating and more modern than ever.

And now, it’s around Generation Z to appropriate the character and for that they help themselves with his eccentric and gothic dance scene, seen in episode 4, which has gone viral. TikTok is indeed taken by storm by a new challenge – with black dresses included – dedicated to this dear Wednesday.

It is on the title ‘Bloody Mary’ by Lady Gaga that a small routine is to be performed, similar to that seen on the show. And Lady Gaga, herself, approves!

Slay Wednesday! You’re welcome at Haus of Gaga anytime (and take The Thing with you, we love paws here)“, she wrote on her Twitter account.

As you can see above, the singer’s tweet is a response to a sweet message posted on Netflix’s official Twitter account for the show, endorsing the ‘Bloody Mary’ trend. “I see you doing my dance moves to LadyGaga’s ‘Bloody Mary’“, can we read. “I understand that she is being followed by little monsters. I approve.“Indeed, Lady Gaga fans are nicknamed “Little Monsters” (“Petits Monstres” in French).

And this is what it looks like:

Among those who have tried the challenge is North West, the 9-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who posted her own version of the challenge on December 1 on the TikTok account she shares with her famous mom.

Choreographed by Jenna Ortega, the original routine is inspired by archival footage of gothic people dancing in clubs in the 80s, as the young actress clarified on Twitter.

Thanks to Siouxsie Sioux, Bob Fosse’s Rich Man’s Frug, Lisa Loring, Lene Lovich, Denis Lavant and archival footage of goths dancing in clubs in the 80s. [Cela] helped me on this one.

On Tik Tok, however, many people have chosen to reproduce the movements (already cult) of Jenna Ortega to the rhythm of the song ‘Goo Goo Muck’ by The Cramps, just like in the original series of Netflix, in the following way.

But these already iconic sting gestures are also inspired by Wednesdays of the past as you can see in the post below.

We remind you, in Tim Burton’s new flagship series, Wednesday is now a student at the unique Nevermore Academy, which tries to adapt to other students while investigating a series of murders that terrorizes the city…

The first season of Wednesday’s phenomenon can be found exclusively on Netflix.
