France: Luis Enrique succeeds Galtier at PSG
Luis Enrique has been unveiled as Paris St-Germain’s new manager. The 53-year-old Spaniard succeeds Christophe Galtier, who has to leave the club after a year. Enrique previously coached FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, for which he played 62 times himself. Since the split after the Spaniards lost the World Cup in Qatar, he has been without a job.
Saudi Arabia: Firmino to Al-Ahli
Roberto Firmino also follows the call of money from the desert and switches to the Saudi Arabian Pro League for the coming season. The former Bundesliga professional signed a contract with Al-Ahli until the summer of 2026. The Brazilian left Liverpool FC after eight years in the summer, his contract had expired.
Brazil: Ancelotti as Seleçao coach from 2024?
Carlo Ancelotti is said to be the coach of the Brazilian national team in a year. A source from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) told the news outlet AFP with. Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid expires in 2024, after which he will move to South America and already coach Brazil at the Copa America, which takes place in June and July. CBF had previously stated that Fernando Diniz of Rio de Janeiro-based club Fluminense would lead the five-time world champions until Ancelotti took over as coach.
Germany: Hofmann to Leverkusen
Germany international Jonas Hofmann is moving from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. The 30-year-old midfielder has signed for four years until the summer of 2027. Hofmann made use of an opt-out clause and is leaving Gladbach after seven and a half years. Borussia collect a transfer fee of 10 million euros.
England: Mount from Chelsea to ManUnited
Mason Mount is expected to join Manchester United. The transfer of the 24-year-old offensive player from his regular club Chelsea to the English record champions became official on Wednesday. The English international has signed a contract until the summer of 2028 with an option for a further year. According to media reports, ManUnited is transferring the equivalent of almost 64 million euros to London.
Kosovo: Slovenian Gliha new national coach
Kosovo have found the successor to sacked coach Alain Giresse. The Slovenian Primoz Gliha signed a contract with the Swiss group opponents in the European Championship qualifier until the end of the current campaign. The 55-year-old Gliha served as interim coach between November 2021 and February 2022.
France: Rico no longer in intensive care
A good 5 weeks after his serious riding accident, PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico left the intensive care unit. This was announced on Wednesday by the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville, where the 29-year-old is being treated further. The Spaniard suffered a traumatic brain injury in his native Andalusia at the end of May. In the hospital, Rico, who was in a coma, had to be put on life-sustaining measures.
