fun, news, tips… what else?

A burger without fries? Very little for us. We rather prefer to choose those which are the most interesting from a nutritional point of view and the least caloric to have fun. And no, it’s not the vegetable fries!

Good news: French fries don’t necessarily make you fat, and a doctor says so! But on condition all the same of choose the right type of fries to accompany your meats and hamburgers… As explained by doctor Jimmy Mohamed, author of the book Zero stress to lose weight, it’s time to de-demonize this essential “pleasure meal”, whether you’re on a diet or not. On his Instagram account, the doctor first recalls that it’s not the fries that make you fat, but their cooking mode when they are fried as often in fast food, and sometimes at home. “In a deep fryer, the fat will be absorbed by the fries and then you eat them” alerts the doctor who points out the excess fat that this unhealthy method of preparation represents.

To feast without blowing up your daily calorie intake, you should therefore eat baked fries which are better for health. These fries are less fattening because “you don’t add fat” for cooking assures the doctor in his explanatory video. By opting for these lower calorie fries, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of the potato which contains vitamin C and potassium, and which is also “a source of energy because it contains complex carbohydrates”as the nutrition expert reminds us.

The quantity of fries often problematic

With oven fries, you can enjoy a portion of fries without depriving yourself, but you still have to be careful about the amount of fries you eat. Don’t count on swallowing a huge plate of it either. As the doctor reminds us, even healthy foods cause weight gain when eaten in excess. Count on average 150 grams per person for a satisfying portion of fries that won’t make you fat. Also be sure to do not eat them dipped in mayonnaiseketchup, or other accompanying sauces, often fatty and/or sweet.

Fries: the right reflexes to take for a balanced meal

Doctor Jimmy Mohamed invites you to prepare your fries yourself with a few potatoes, but you can also find frozen fries with a nutri score of A on the shelves of your supermarkets if you are in a hurry. Even if they are less caloric than deep-fried fries, the doctor also reminds us not to do not over-salt your oven fries.

Additionally, he also recommends pairing them with a source of protein and fiber, supplementing your serving of fries with vegetables. For him, it is clear: “Eating a bit of salad with your fries is not to ease your conscience, it’s a good thing!”.
