Gemini is not Google’s only weapon to fight back against its competitors in AI. The firm is also preparing Pixie AI, a new assistant to counter Samsung.
Artificial intelligence is going to be the next ground for the fight between different smartphone manufacturers. Samsung will already bet on it with Galaxy AI on the Galaxy S24. For its part, Google has started promoting Gemini nano to integrate modern AI into its Pixels. The brand should not stop there and would be working on Pixie AI.
A new generation assistant
It’s the media The Information which reveals this strategy. The Pixie assistant would be a brand new application based on Gemini and integrated into Google Pixel smartphones. Like Google Assistant or the late Google Now, the firm would dig into your data on Gmail, Google Maps and its other products to guide you as best as possible.
In other words, it would be a tailor-made version of Google Assistant boosted by the advances in AI demonstrated by GPT (ChatGPT) and Gemini. As in the fake Gemini demo, Google would like to offer multimodal search. That is to say the possibility of associating photos with voice queries and other criteria. The media mentions the following example: “suggest directions to the nearest store where a person can purchase a product they photographed“.
Another new Google product
The Pixie AI assistant would be planned for the launch of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, that is to say at the end of 2024.
In the purest Google tradition, Pixie AI would take the form of a new application, different from the Google Assistant that we know today, and from the Google Assistant merged with Google Bard already presented by the firm.
