The new series from the Star Wars universe, The Acolytearrives on screens in June 2024. It takes place in a period which has never before appeared in films, or in series.
Series The Acolyte will be broadcast exclusively on Disney+, from June 4, 2024. The streaming service is available from 5.99 euros per month, or from 29.99 euros per month with the Canal + Ciné Séries offer.
Episode V before II, and I released well after IV: in the saga Star Wars, chronology is not always easy to approach. In details, The Acolyte will show, for the first time in a series shot in live action, a unique period. The action of the series takes place in a period called “the High Republic”, which took place centuries before the events of episode I, The Phantom Menace. More exactly, The Acolyte takes place a hundred years before the feature film, the showrunner of the series, Leslye Headland, told Entertainment Weekly.
This period is described as the golden age of the Jedi and the Galactic Republic. However, as a first trailer, released on March 19, 2024, showed, everything is not exactly going well for the Jedi order – and they will quickly find themselves face to face with their sworn enemy, a Sith.
To sum up, The Acolyte takes place well before all the films of Star Wars. The Republic, which is experiencing its final hours in Episodes I, II and III, is at its peak, and neither Anakin Skywalker nor the future Emperor Palpatine have yet been born. Same thing for the other main characters of the different trilogies. We will therefore see neither Luke Skywalker nor Princess Leia, who are the protagonists of episodes IV, V and VI, and even less Kylo Ren and Rey, the main characters of the postlogy – episodes VII, VIII and IX.
