Which plants to choose to flower windows and balconies even in winter? : Current Woman The MAG

Who says winter season says very cool nights (even freezing!), Persistent humidity, little light and possibly cold winds. It is not easy in these conditions to make a green and lively environment last.

Choose plants resistant, robust, which last despite significant temperature variations. If they can draw their resources from good soil, ivy, boxwood, bamboo or heather are one of the weather-resistant plants – from snowstorms to heatwaves.

Holly and wintergreen will last and also give pretty berries that will brighten up your planters.

“Seasonal” plants, which bloom in winter, will also find their place: the hellebore (also called the “Christmas rose” is just as happy in pots as in good soil and displays pretty white or colored flowers. Jasmine d winter, hyacinth, blue, pink or white, camellia (which blooms in all seasons), and snowdrops will be allies for a green environment.

To make your plants last during the winter, avoid overwatering them too much and be sure to place clay balls if you are planting in pots or planters (so that the water does not stagnate and, therefore, do not does not freeze).

Do not bring in your plants, even in very cold weather: too great a temperature variation would only harm them. Instead, cover it with a tarp or a suitable cover to protect them from freezing.
