Whistleblowing or Revenge?
AfD politicians are said to have celebrated sex parties in the state parliament

In an anonymous letter it is alleged that an AfD MP is said to have organized drinking bouts and sex parties in the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Another AfD man spreads the allegations, the party rejects them. The security service could bring light into the darkness.

The allegations sound absurd at first: A member of the AfD parliamentary group in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been said to have invited women to parliamentary groups and the plenary hall of the state parliament for some time and organized drinking bouts and sex parties with them. The evidence is thin. The information comes mainly from an AfD member who has been fighting a muddy fight with other politicians in the party for some time. Whether it is a personal campaign of revenge or whether there is actually something to the allegations must now be clarified, among other things, by the administration of the state parliament. But one after anonther.

In an anonymous letter, which is available to the “Nordkurier”, among others, serious allegations are made against a member of the AfD parliamentary group. Thomas Kerl, AfD member from Greifswald, uses his Facebook page to report on these and other allegations. He speaks of drinking bouts and sex parties with women that would have taken place in Schwerin Castle in the past – including the evening after the state elections.

In a video, he calls on viewers to provide him with evidence of the allegations. Apparently, he himself has no evidence. Whether he at least knows who the allegations are directed against is open. At least he does not mention a name and instead uses the term “plum august”. This is what the said MP is said to have called himself in a sex forum on which he apparently maintained contact with women. One of these women is said to have been the informant for the anonymous letter writer. According to the letter, she allegedly recognized the MPs by their tattoos.

The plenary hall should always be locked

But there is another component to the allegations. The anonymous letter goes on to say that the state parliament guards reported on “drinking bouts that are regularly held at night in the parliamentary groups’ rooms, to which scantily clad girls are also invited”, reported. Security guards are said to have followed video cameras as the AfD politician “was having fun with one or the other of these girls” in the plenary hall. The last claim is questionable because the plenary hall is always locked, according to the AfD parliamentary group. A representative could enter the plenary hall, but then a security guard would have to be present.

When asked by the “Nordkurier”, the accused member dismissed all allegations and, according to his own statements, checks whether he is taking legal action himself. The spokesman for the AfD parliamentary group, Philip Hentschel, told the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” that Thomas Kerl has been publishing videos for some time, the content of which, according to the regional association, is party-damaging. A party expulsion process is currently underway against Thomas Kerl. We are now waiting for the results of the state parliament’s investigation, “which we also welcome,” said Hentschel. The group assumes, however, that the allegations will not be confirmed.

Did the security service act correctly?

The administration of the state parliament is active in the matter, but does not investigate against the MP. Instead, administrative staff are investigating the allegation that “there has been misconduct by the state parliament’s house security service”. This was announced by the press spokesman for the state parliament administration to the “Nordkurier”. Specifically, it is about the unauthorized stay of people in Schwerin Castle. “The plenary hall is also said to have been entered illegally,” the spokesman said on Monday.

The state parliament spokesman did not reply to the newspaper whether there were any initial findings after questioning the security personnel and what further proceedings would look like if the allegations were confirmed. According to an article in the “Schweriner Volkszeitung”, which first reported on the allegations, no recordings are made by the video surveillance in the plenary hall. Therefore, Landtag director Armin Tebben is investigating the case. Should the allegations prove to be true, they would be “possibly criminally relevant”.
