The two episodes of this France Télévisions series, created by Didier Decoin and directed by Josée Dayan, tell the story of the favorite of King Henry II. Born as Caterina Maria Romola di Lorenzo de’ Medici, Catherine de’ Medici, the wife of King Henry II, will be interpreted by the young italian actress. In Italy, Gaia Girace became one of TV’s rising stars after her work on the hit series The Prodigious Friend, adapted from the novel series of the same name. Diane de Poitiers, the ambitious project

Besides the presence of Gaia Girace, few names are unknown to the French public. From production to distribution, the Passionfilms, France Télévisions, TV5 Monde and RTBF project bet big. It is a creation of Didier Decoin, also a screenwriter, who had notably worked on the mini-series Napoleon, Les Miserables Where the count of Monte Cristo. This is not the first time that he has worked in close collaboration with Josée Dayan. Working since 2015 on the series Captain Marleau, the director changes register with this historical drama. Hugo Becker, Samuel Labarthe, Virginie Ledoyen, JoeyStarr, Gérard Depardieu, Julie Depardieu and Guillaume Gallienne also appear in the cast.
