Who will win the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö? Before the big finale, the first favorites have emerged.

Who will win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest? Before the semi-finals and the final on May 11th, the first favorites are already emerging. One country in particular ranks high among bookmakers: Croatia (25 percent). The country is in first place the fan community “eurovisionworld.com”. It is represented by Marko Purišić (28), better known as Baby Lasagna. He sat down at the Croatian preliminary round, the Dora Festival, with “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”. In the song, the rock singer sings about a young man who leaves his homeland behind. Baby Lasagna will be featured in the first semi-final.

Switzerland takes second place in the ranking (appearance in the second semi-final). The country is represented by Nemo (24) with “The Code”. The nonbinary artist says about his post: “‘The Code’ is about the journey I began with the realization that I was neither a man nor a woman. Self-discovery was a long and often difficult process for me. But nothing feels better than freedom, that I gained from realizing that I am non-binary.” As a genderqueer person, it is very important to him to stand up for the entire LGBTQIA+ community at the ESC.

These countries convince ESC fans

According to the portal, directly behind Switzerland (17 percent) is Ukraine (14 percent). The country won in 2022 with Kalush Orchestra and “Stefania”. Will they be able to do it again? In 2023, the music duo Tvorchi came sixth, and in 2024 Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil want to do it again as a duo and with the contribution “Teresa & Maria”.

The 23-year-old Sanremo Festival winner Angelina Mango from Italy with the title “La noia” follows on the list of possible winners for the ESC 2024. Marco Mengoni (35) was able to take fourth place for the country in 2023. The Dutchman Joost Klein (26) ranks behind Italy. In this country he is best known for his collaboration with Otto Waalkes (75) and the rapper Ski Aggu (26) on the song “Friesenjung”. In Malmö he competes with “Europapa”.

These are the fan favorites

This year too, the “Organization Générale des Amateurs de l’Eurovision” (OGAE), the international organization of all ESC fans, a vote on the fan favorites is underway. The OGAE clubs in their countries were able to vote until the end of April. Croatia is also in first place, followed by Italy and Switzerland. Belgium and France follow. For Belgium, singer and actor Thomas Mustin alias Mustii (33) enters the ring with “Before The Party’s Over”, for France the 34-year-old pop singer Slimane with “Mon amour”.

Are there any more predictions? In the song checks of the portal “eurovision.de” Fans and experts also choose their favorites. The magazine “Alles Eurovision” will run from May 6th on days when there is no ESC live show (streamed on eurovision.de or in the ARD media library). Fans can vote live to see which ESC songs have potential to win, and a ranking with the ten most popular songs from the semis will be published on Monday (May 6th) and Wednesday (May 8th).

This is how Germany has a chance of winning

And what will things look like for Germany in 2024? In 2022, Malik Harris (26) scored a meager six points and took last place. Things didn’t go well for Lord Of The Lost last year either; the dark rock band from Hamburg also ended up in last place. Isaak Guderian (29) wants to do better this time, but the bookmakers see his chances of winning as slim. It is currently ranked 22nd at “eurovisionworld.com”.

The first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on May 7th, the second will follow on May 9th. The final will take place on May 11th.

Last year Loreen (40) won for Sweden. The singer had already won with “Euphoria” in 2012. She impressed in Liverpool in 2023 with the title “Tattoo”. Before the final, the betting offices expected the singer to have a high chance of winning; she was in first place in the “eurovisionworld.com” fan community.
