According to Luxembourg, Ursula von der Leyen favors France and EDF to obtain the support of Emmanuel Macron for a second term. Explanations.

VSLaude Turmes is a follower of outspokenness. Luxembourg Minister of Energy since 2022, the ecologist has thrown a huge stone into the pond by denouncing an arrangement, in his view, political between the Commission and France. On one aspect of the reform of the electricity market (contracts for difference) currently being negotiated, he denounces an undue advantage for EDF because the Commission’s text includes existing nuclear installations in the reform. This ecologist wants nuclear energy not to be part of the energies supported under the energy transition.

“Just for France, therefore for EDF, this could represent an additional income of 120 billion euros”, he says, opening the Energy Council which is being held in Luxembourg. Chance…
