We heard about it last week, with Wiko planning an event in China this December 27. Conference which did indeed take place, and made it possible to formalize the Wiko 5G, smartphone intended to relaunch the brand initially founded in France, and counting among the subsidiaries of the Chinese Tinno. To do this, the firm relies on the expertise of Huawei since, as we had anticipated, its 5G is only a version rebranded of the Nova 9 SE, released just before summer 2022 in Europe.
The Wiko 5G therefore incorporates the characteristics of its predecessor, namely its 6.78-inch LCD screen (120 Hz, 2388 x 1080 pixels) housed in a case of 164.64 x 75.55 x 7.94 mm for 191 grams . The smartphone is equipped with a quadruple photo module with a main sensor of 108 megapixels (the Samsung Isocell HM2 with wide-angle lens f / 1.9), a second of 8 megapixels (with ultra wide-angle f / 2, 2) and two sensors of 2 megapixels each, dedicated to macro and depth measurement. Features already seen on the Nova 9 SE, unlike the chipsets behind it all, since the Snapdragon 680 4G, which powered Huawei’s model, gives way to a Snapdragon 695, 5G compatible and previewed on many entry-level smartphones in 2022. The chip is flanked by 8 GB of RAM, with 128 to 256 GB of storage, and remains associated with a 4000 mAh battery compatible with 66 W charging.
For the time being, the Wiko 5G is only announced in China, and it remains to be determined whether the brand plans to make its return to Europe using such a product. Its price, in the Middle Kingdom, is set at 1999 yuan, or around €270 excluding tax, for its 8/128 GB version, and at 2199 yuan (around €300) for its 8/256 GB version.
