” VS’is a recurring debate”, admits the Insoumise Julie Garnier, regional councilor for Île-de-France. After the buzz caused by the violent altercation between the deputy of La France insoumise Louis Boyard and the presenter Cyril Hanouna on the set of the show Do not touch My TV, Thursday, November 10, the political family of the young deputy is faced with a dilemma. Will the Insoumis continue to participate in Cyril Hanouna’s ultra-popular shows, or decide to boycott them, even if it means depriving themselves of a key audience? The Checknews unit of Release asked them the question.
“You’re shit”, “I don’t give a damn that you’re a deputy”, launched Cyril Hanouna, among other insults, to Louis Boyard, when the latter wanted to criticize the owner of Canal +, Vincent Bolloré. After such a violent verbal sequence, “there will be few volunteers to go to Hanouna”, fears Clémentine Autain. Will there be a collective decision not to return? “I think we are going to have a discussion,” said the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis.
Same opinion for David Guiraud, deputy for the North, for whom it is necessary “that we collectively raise the question of a boycott”. This is not the first time that this debate will be posed in the ranks of La France insoumise: “We had already asked the question for CNews”, recalls the regional councilor Julie Garnier, who ultimately prefers that everyone remains free to choose: “At LFI, each elected official is free to go where they want. Relations with journalists work on relationships and it is often a question of affinity. But we all have our limits: I will never go back to Praud. »
“We have to go even where it does not make us happy”
But no one is fooled: for La France insoumise, the decision to boycott a program with such audiences is not to be taken lightly. “It’s a question of strategy, points out François Piquemal, LFI deputy for Haute-Garonne. In politics, you never choose your battlefields. This is a show that is seen by millions of people. To be able to bring in our ideas, we have to go even where it doesn’t make us happy. “The deputy thus recalls the choice of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, in January 2022, to go to the political program of Cyril Hanouna for a debate against Éric Zemmour.

“There is a tension between the principles of not endorsing programs where there is a climate conducive to the trivialization of the far right and the pragmatism of not disappearing from channels that are aimed at millions of viewers”, admits Clémentine Autain, who also underlines the usefulness of bringing certain subjects before the public of Cyril Hanouna. Thus, according to her, “the Louis Boyard episode” will have been “an opportunity to sound the alarm on the concentration of the media and the control of information”.
